✨🎹At just 20 years old, Daniil Trifonov delivered a performance that revealed a rare combination of technical brilliance and artistic intensity. During the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition, he performed Franz Liszt’s Mephisto Waltz No. 1, S.514, bringing extraordinary speed, precision, and dramatic character to one of the most demanding works in the piano repertoire. His playing seemed to move effortlessly between delicacy and ferocity, capturing both the elegance and demonic energy of Liszt’s music.
Grigory Sokolov seems to do more than simply play each note; he listens to and considers how every sound fits into the larger whole. From a single note and pairs of notes to the movement of all ten fingers, every detail is shaped with remarkable focus and precision.
He pursues a very personal standard of perfection, without relying on showmanship or outward recognition. After 30 years of listening to his playing, one can still hear the extraordinary dedication he brings to every piece.

“I lived badly, I lived in mortal sin, I drank a lot, I smoked a lot... i drank so much i couldnt control myself...I felt a void so big that I realized my life would have no meaning if I hadn't donated to myself Jesus Christ. I was deceived by the false light of wealth and joy, and that light made me feel more empty. It's not how you start that makes you a Saint, but how you finish. "It's not who you were, it's who you decide to become." ”
