You are correct on the “Big maybe” nothing is guaranteed, I bet on probability. Banks are not pushing back on the tech, they are concerned about losing deposits due to exchanges offering better rates. What’s stopping them from creating their own payment rails? Compliance, trust and privacy. They can create their stable coin but for external payments they must either join a network of trusted banks (federal reserve) or use a bridge. That’s why ISO20022 is in place. Having a bank in charge of payment rails is super risky because of the trust factor.
