• 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲: collect & distribute domain events
• 𝗦𝗤𝗦: queue tasks to process asynchronously
• 𝗦𝗡𝗦: send notifications to endpoints (HTTP) and users (email)

As a beginner, learning AWS can seem overwhelming. Focus on just these 10 services and you can go very far.

ps. EC2, VPC & ECS are all absent because you really don't need them to be productive as a beginner. When you're starting out, focus on the higher-level services that offer you leverage to do more with less effort.

PSA: if you're using CDK with esbuild to bundle your Node.js/TypeScript #lambda functions, pay attention to the last 0.22 esbuild update. The default behavior has changed and it will no longer bundle your dependencies.

The npm package "aws-lambda" is NOT types for Lambda, but a CLI deployment tool.

700,000 of you downloaded this last week and I know you're not actually deploying with it.

Stop importing it in your functions!

Even the AWS Docs have been updated to reflect this!

Don’t get me wrong, Rust is an excellent choice of Lambda runtime for a lot of use cases but at this point Step Functions is more _serverless_ than Lambda in terms of a compute programming model. Conflating serverless and Lambda feels like a regression.
