Charting without trading is a terrible use of your time

When I started learning I spent too long just drawing on charts, trying the find the ‘correct’ lines to draw, and then seeing how the market reacted

That gave me a false sense of confidence

When I decided to actually put on a trade, I had no idea how to execute, manage the trade, and ride the emotions associated with the price and PnL fluctuating in front of me

Charting isn’t trading

Similar to excessive paper trading, hindsight replay tool analysis, and disorganised back testing - it all falls into the category of mental masturbation

Putting on risk is a qualitatively unique experience that must be felt, not observed

You’ll learn more by trading even very small amounts very frequently than you will from risk-free intellectual exercises
