@doyle9311@nascarman_rr I remember seeing pictures of other drivers in NASCAR trying them out earlier in the 90’s and they looked huge and almost like a “halo” someone with a neck injury would wear. Seemed like they were better designed for Indycar drivers at the times
@Guy18Saw@hollinger I remember when daytime on HBO consisted of movies that were not hits or older hit movies HBO had been already airing. The newer hit or any R rated movie would not begin until 8pm. Kids saw plenty of movies that were total box office bombs or were criticality panned
@FreddieKraft Part of the problem is it seems the regular cautions are dragged out for commercials on top of the time taken for the stage breaks. The Indy 500 seemed to get to back to racing quicker from wrecks than NASCAR does for single car spins or debris.
@BostonByBirth No, in my hometown in the early 90’s there was “A caller reported a large ape like creature in her yard. Officers advised she was intoxicated and told her she should go to bed.” And it gave the address so you could easily figure out who it was.
@Hunter_Wofford@nascar_king@S1apSh0es They were never promised any NASCAR dates. They took over the lease of the Nashville Fairgrounds and moved the Busch Series/Trucks dates to Nashville Superspeedway. Pretty sure the only tracks built in the past 40 years that were promised dates were Kansas and Chicagoland
@dannydietrich Pretty sure boxing usually does it before the main event for major fights. So a bunch of fights have happened before they get to the anthems.
@JedKMeshew Maybe its a deal like the 1976 Bicentennial where it was celebrated all year. That was part of the plot to Rocky. Apollo Creed wanted the first big sporting event of the Bicentennial year , but would not delay the fight when his original opponent dropped out.
@AlextheAdm1ral@alexfrompa_ The drivers HATED Days of Thunder when it was released. I specifically remember video of both Dale Jarrett and Richard Petty saying they were not impressed as they were walking out of the theatre at the premier. It was the current drivers who were children then who liked it.
@TGL_STUDIOS@Jordan_Bianchi At a Truck race I attended last year I headed to the bathroom as soon as the stage caution came out. I was back in my seat before pit stops began.
@Se7enEvilMuffin@MattWeaverRA Not to go in a totally different direction, but there were some teams saying the exact same thing about the Hoosiers the past several seasons. There had also been some conspiracies about the Hoosier supplier “taking care of” certain teams.
@Se7enEvilMuffin@MattWeaverRA I not sure if it is the tires being bad as much as teams are starting over with setups. The last Tour race at Seekonk was pretty good, but some drivers you would have thought to be favorites really struggled.
@Zicklefoose@NASCARHall He(actually his teams) not running a full schedule for part of the prime of his career definitely lowered his win total. There was a period where he was winning 2 or 3 races a year while missing about a third of the schedule.
@RefinedPopulist That episode aired in 1992. It was the flashback episode where Marge is pregnant with Lisa and they want to move from their apartment and get a house.
@ReverendSpeck@davemeltzerWON Not sure if it’s in the article , but Dana had always told a BS story that he had to flee Boston because mobster Whitey Bulger tried to muscle in on Dana’s Boxercising gym.
@drizz_81@GoDucks5_Mick It was as a unified schedule years before Winston showed up. They just requested each event be at least 250 miles in order to reduce the amount of races. Multiple points races on the same date was not really happening much once Petty hit his prime.
@drizz_81@GoDucks5_Mick None of you guys have slightest idea what you are talking about. Petty did not exactly cherry pick.He just ran the full schedule(since racing was his family’s entire income) and those other teams/drivers skipped races for various reasons.
