@tishytopper@PhillyMayor Rizzo was an absolutely awful mayor. The people who pretend he was great only do so because he was openly racist. The murder rate was also higher when he was mayor
@dedeelennae The city has less residents than it did 25 years ago, and less than it did in 2020. 3 years of growth getting it nearly back to its 2020 population doesn’t mean it’s the “next NYC”. It’s not, and that’s ok! Some people choose to live here because it’s not
@stanningcarys@somethings_awry I love both! We moved to Chicago from philly last year for my wife’s job and there are things both cities do well, and things they do poorly. I love it here with my biggest complaints being weather, traffic and lack of nature. But it’s a great city as is philly!
After John Kelly was caught on video executing a woman at 12th Chestnut last fall, the D.A. you just reelected dropped all charges and put Kelly back in Center City:

@DanielG67128715@GoodVibePolitik@Spritelass67 You’re asking why major global events need increased security? Lol.
And idk, why don’t you ask the guy who posted about this since he lives in Philly?
@DanielG67128715@GoodVibePolitik@Spritelass67 Some might disagree, considering all of the events going on. More people and activities typically require more policing. That said, it seems like he framed it as concern about “directly lining their pockets” as opposed to being an issue of over policing
@notcarlosz2@GoodVibePolitik Overtime abuse is real, but obviously they have to spend funds on OT for existing officers if they can’t hire enough new ones
