Good evening Followers, Friends and Family,

A few days ago I got a heartbreaking DM from one of my cracked Gunner who fought with me around Damboa, Wajiroko and Sabongari axis Borno State. There was an attack on our location last year May 22nd, RPG bomb was launched at his Camel MRAP by BHT and it came directly to his Gun turret which resulted to him losing an Arm (Hand 🫱🏿) with severe burns on his body 💔. The youngman is presently receiving care at 44 NA Reference Hospital Kaduna but needs all the support he can get at this moment.

Today, I respectfully appeal to every compassionate individual to support this Soldier who has sacrificed so much in service to our Nation 🇳🇬. His courage and sacrifice helped protect lives and preserve peace. The injuries he sustained have left him facing daily physical, emotional and financial challenges. Now, he needs our collective support to meet essential needs and live with dignity. Please find attached screenshots of my discussion with him.

Bandits have reportedly carried out an attack at the Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting the school principal, a NECO ad hoc staff member and four students who were sitting for the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) examination.

One of the abducted students has been rescued by security operatives, while joint security teams are conducting search-and-rescue operations to secure the release of the remaining victims and arrest the attackers.

Let me educate you, since your understanding of military operations is clearly limited to what you see in action movies.

In every professional military across the globe, combat camera (COMCAM) and public relations (APRD) personnel are an integral part of operations. They are trained soldiers who carry weapons and are deployed alongside frontline troops to document operations for intelligence, training, and historical records.

They do not just stand behind the line. They are on the line.

From the U.S. military to the British Army, from the IDF to the Nigerian Army combat camera operators are embedded with frontline units. They run, they take cover, they engage, and they document. Because without them, there would be no visual evidence of operations, no training material for future missions, and no historical record of sacrifice.

What do you think? That they are sitting in an air-conditioned office editing videos?

No. They are in the same bush. They are under the same fire. They are carrying the same weight with rifles and also carrying cameras.

So before you mock the presence of a camera operator in a military operation, ask yourself: where do you think every combat video you watch comes from? Who do you think documents the bravery you claim to respect?

Chadd Wright retired from active military service in 2019. He was in Nigeria in 2014 alongside other international instructors to train the Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service (SBS) and other personnel in Lagos. This initial instructional phase took place 12 years ago. Wright did not release his viral video detailing his personal perspectives on the environment until 2022, which was 4 years ago.

During that exact same period in 2014, the United States placed an embargo on weapons sales to Nigeria. Faced with these restrictions and under severe security circumstances the AFN, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Department of State Services adapted strategically by sending personnel to train in Belarus. Through this foreign training, they became the most feared, highly skilled, and elite special forces in Nigeria at that time as terrified Insurgents who mistook their tactical capabilities for foreign mercenaries referred to them as "_Haya n Soja_" because of their lethality and precision. Once these operatives completed their training and returned, they unleashed hell on Boko Haram terrorists circa 2014, 2015, and 2016, successfully clearing major insurgent strongholds before policy decisions later saw the specific unit restructured and disbanded.

The year 2014 marked the very first time Nigeria as a whole fought a domestic insurgency of that magnitude and handled complex, full-scale asymmetric warfare. While Wright labeled the troops he met as "locals", his own experience did not include participating in conventional battles. During his time in Afghanistan, his role focused strictly on gathering intelligence and avoiding detection while operating in a non-traditional capacity.

The viral video he dropped years later pushed a highly narrow, outdated narrative that is dead on arrival. Today, Nigeria officially holds the best Special Operations Forces (SOF) in West Africa, features the most battle-hardened army on the African continent, and stands ranked as the 3rd strongest military in Africa and 33rd globally. A single retired instructor who was appointed to train personnel alongside others 12 years ago cannot be used to talk down on the modern capabilities of Nigeria's elite forces.

A couple years ago, Nigerian Navy SBS Special Operations Forces trained U.S. Marines in riverine small boat tactics. You won't find Nigerian SBS operators boasting about it, that professionalism speaks for itself.

This guy, who came to Nigeria over a decade ago during the early stages of the insurgency, made a YouTube video on the subject a few years back. His outdated and distorted narrative shows he was mid level instructor with a limited grasp of the broader operational picture. The fact that he's still recycling the same talking points speaks volumes about his shallow and immature mindset.

You won't find other U.S. instructors making remarks like this. This is clearly someone retired, chasing relevance and validation, recycling outdated talking points.

He answered the call of duty without hesitation. In the brave effort to rescue kidnapped victims in Orire, he paid the ultimate price, laying down his own life so that others could live.

Same Yesterday that Troops Rescued the Oyo-Orire Pupils and Teachers, he was also laid to rest with honour, but his courage, selflessness, and sacrifice will never be buried. He stood where many would have fled, fought when others feared, and gave everything for people he may never have known.

May we never forget the cost of the peace and security we often take for granted. Heroes like him deserve our eternal gratitude and remembrance.

The reaction of some Nigerians to the rescue operation is, unfortunately, not surprising. There are those who forbid anything positive about their country. They immediately claim a ransom must have been paid to secure their release or the rescue operation was scripted. If it wasn't staged, why are the rescued children seen smiling and relieved after their ordeal?

There are also reports that the DSS tracked down and detained relatives of the terrorists across multiple states, then sent the terrorists videos of those arrests making it clear that any harm to the hostages would have serious consequences for their own families. This is psychological warfare that was employed alongside the military operation. The government pulled out all the stops to ensure the hostages were rescued through a coordinated security operation rather than give into their demand by paying a ransom.

Rather than acknowledge a remarkable rescue mission, one that cost the life of a security operative, some people would rather cling to conspiracy theories than give credit to the security personnel who risked all to bring the hostages home.
