Once you leave the US, living is cheaper in many places.. Even in the U.S living is cheaper if you are away from the cities..
Example, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, and even parts of Japan, $1400 a month you could live on easily.. Get near the city though, you may still be able to survive and live, but you will not have any extra.

@tuuu28283 Well what is your home town? I myself am not a city person. I do visit the city when I go to the Philippines, but too noisy and too many people. Tokyo, is confusing. Crowded, people and buildings everywhere. Makes me feel uncomfortable most the time.
