WATCH🚨
March and March and Operation Dudula marched in the Western Cape today, Friday, calling for undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa.
@_Tee__G The victims of the identity theft should start suing the DHA and/or the corrupt officials (and their pensions) who sell the IDs. Maybe this is one of those private prosecutions @JacintaNgobese and SAFM shall undertake.🕯️
🚨Shocking - SIU Interim Report On Study Visa Fraud:
The SIU's investigation revealed that the country's immigration framework was treated as a "marketplace", allowing thousands of foreign nationals to fraudulently obtain study visas and exploit the system to gain residency.
1. How the Study Visa Fraud Worked:
According to the SIU interim report, foreign nationals routinely obtained student visas by submitting a web of fabricated supporting documents.
This included:
•Fake Higher Learning Letters
•Forged Health and Legal Clearances
•Lack of Adjudication Verification
•Gaining and Extending Residency
•Ghost Students & Illicit Businesses
•Overstaying
2. The Corruption Mechanics & Financial Footprint:
•Syndicate Operations: Corrupt officials and external syndicates colluded tightly.
•Applications were pushed directly through informal channels like WhatsApp to bypass official queues.
•Officials used side channels and dummy phones to avoid detection.
•Exorbitant Bribes: While some entry-level approvals cost a few hundred rand, syndicates charged up to R40,000 specifically for study visas.
•Massive Financial Gains: The SIU has traced more than R181 million in illicit financial gains flowing into accounts linked to the scheme. In one shocking finding, just four low-earning officials received over R16.3 million in direct cash deposits.
The SIU has revealed that a Nigerian man with Fraudulent papers was appointed as Head of Department at the University of Fort Hare. The man then used his position to steal over R10 Million.
