Our first three findings: make sustainability a whole-of-government and whole-of-society mission; define sustainable and transition activity through a credible Climate Finance Taxonomy; & build credible carbon and resource markets that create the right economic signals.

#WATCH | Delhi | CII India Sustainability Taskforce Chairman and former Union Minister Jayant Sinha says, “…Sustainability is like a slow-motion COVID. It is affecting all of us. Whether it is the flooding in Gurgaon, the flooding in the Brahmaputra River Valley or these terrible tragedies that we are seeing right now in Nepal because of the glacial lake outburst. All of this is fundamentally linked to the fact that the planet is warming very rapidly and this naturally creates all these extreme weather problems… In our task force, we have identified five very important things that are required from a whole of government and society perspective… Number one, we need to be able to have a green taxonomy, which will enable us to figure out where the investments have to go. Number two, we have to have carbon markets that enable a carbon price and that can accelerate further investments. Number three, we need a green financing institution that is able to provide investment support for making these green investments. Then number five, what we need is a new reporting standard, VRSR 2.0, that can be rolled out across not just large companies, but MSMEs as well, so that ultimately everybody is reporting on sustainability… Everybody has to work together on this to enable this to happen.”
