I think that five generations is probably a little too far...30 years would be while Victoria was Queen and no-one would be considered British despite potentially fighting throughout the 20C for the Empire. Even 20 years is 1925.

So you're not a fish, which therefore suggests you acknowledge there are a number of generations afterwhich one is "naturalised"...how many generations is that?
