RB Receiving vs Seattle. Nice and simple.
SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON FOR A PARLAY❤️
Seahawks were 4th in zone rate and 2-high rate in Week 1. Similar to their numbers from last season.
When you see zone and 2-high, you think of tight ends and RBs.
Seattle play a very much "bend don't break" style defense and keeps everything in front, so they pretty much leave the flats and checkdowns open, so this coverage style, mixed with those priorities, has consistently provided receiving work for running backs against them.
The cherry on top is that they have had a great running defense during this period so if a team wants to get a good RB involved, which Arizona definitely wants to do with their first round draft pick, it is better to do it through the air.
Love was an elite RB prospect and was drafted as such by this team, so getting him involved is a priority.
Last week, he split work with Tyler Allgeier with a 46% snap share, 32% attempt share and 33% route share. Not ideal, and there have been reports that they are still planning on splitting work, but some quotes from the staff directly after the game give me more comfort on his usage going forward.
Sep 14th, Mike LeFluer on whether Jeremiyah Love’s usage yesterday was how the game went or how Tyler Allgeier was doing — was there any point where Love was on a pitch count, because he was coming off an injury: It was more how the game went. We didn’t necessarily have a pitch count, per se. But just like any of our guys that haven’t practiced in 3 or 4 weeks, we were naturally kinda monitoring that. I do think [running backs coach] Matt Merritt was charting exactly. I thought that was the fair amount, given that he hasn’t really practiced in 3 or 4 weeks.
Sep 18th, on whether Jeremiyah Love getting in a full week of practice increases the confidence that LaFleur could play Love even more and maybe have an expanded role for him this week: I wouldn’t say the expanded role, anything like that — his role was gonna be what it was. They’re gonna rotate. They are. This is a loooong season. I have no idea how many carries he’s gonna get. I have, roughly, how many plays he’s gonna get — but you never know, there’s a flow to it. I’m sure Steve Kerr didn’t want to keep Steph Curry in there for 48 minutes in a regular season game, but sometimes Steph Curry hits 13 threes — you’re not gonna take the hot hand out. Sometimes that happens with running backs. We’ll keep the hot hand in there, whoever that may be.
I read this as "There will be a split, but he just got back from injury so we didn't want to push to far in Week 1. He got his feet wet and we are comfortable giving him more work as long as he is playing well"
