Matt “7-6” Campbell had a ton of flaws and overall underperformed as a coach with some really talented rosters, but one spot he was always solid at evaluating was QB. Purdy was a 3 Star. Rocco was basically a Juco recruit and nobody thought he'd be good. Dekkers and Park were elite talents who unfortunately suffered from shit for brains. Kyle Kemp was a hidden gem. Aidan Bouman turned South Dakota into a national title contender. Last season we played NFL QBs Mark Gronowski, and Jalon Daniels. Brendan Sorsby was the most coveted transfer on the market. Sam Leavitt was up there as well. Tons of people believe Bear Bachmeyer is the best QB in the big 12, and Noah Fifita is a certified dude. He would have watched a ton of film on all of those guys, but still thought Raynor was the best QB on our schedule. Odds are he was right, right? Like he nailed Kempt, Purdy, and Rocco. Dekkers and Park were missed but that was a leadership/shit for brains thing not a talent thing. It's pretty clear Raynor excels in both of those areas so I’m not worried at all about that. Is it crazy to say Raynor is likely a top 5 QB in the Big 12? I don’t think I’ve ever been more frustrated watching an Iowa State game than I was that hot day in Jonesboro Arkansas last season. That’s the type of hell our ops will be going through! I know there hasn’t been a ton of hype coming out of camp, but that is likely a byproduct of a Jimmy Rogers defense. He had Trinidad Chambliss looking like a high schooler last season!!! Call me crazy, but don’t be shocked if Raynor plays his way into Heisman conversations
