The real truth of the matter is that no letter is a vowel or consonant, SOUNDS are vowels and consonants, and letters merely represent those sounds.
It’s easy to say a is a vowel and b is a consonant… bit harder with the funny letters like y… that’s why we say “sometimes y” 😭

It came from Dutch colonizers and came to be used by other groups. Literally the opposite. It’s not a creole or pidgin language, either.
