For many, the joy of watching Masters of the Universe is simply due to seeing beloved action figures come to life on screen.
But it also gives us the most Christ-like aspirational hero we've seen in a very long time.
Consider this:
1. Adam is born of a woman from Earth and a father from beyond.
2. He experiences a water baptism after coming to Earth (plunging into the lake.)
3. Undergoes a Transfiguration.
4. During the transfiguration the camera zooms in on a cross the color of blood forming on his chest.
5. Is tempted in the wilderness (Skeletor appears and offers to give him what he wants if he agrees to yield to him.)
6. Gives new names to the heroes who follow him (a common practice in the Bible for both prophets of old and those of us destined to live in God's eternal Kingdom.)
7. Three times Peter denied Jesus when he thought that evil had won. When Jesus rose he reinstated Peter while they were sitting on the shore by asking Peter if he loved him three times. Three denials, three confirmations.
In similar symmetrical fashion, when Duncan has a crisis of faith and walks away, Adam reinstates him when they're sitting in the cell by having him repeat the very words that Duncan previously used to encourage others.
8. The Book of Proverbs frequently personifies Godly wisdom as a female figure. This is reflected in MOTU as the Sorceress.
9. In MOTU Adam has two forms, 1 Corinthians 15 refers to Jesus as "the second Adam."
10. And most significantly, Adam's death and resurrection, complete with rending of the Power Sword to coincide with the tearing of the Temple Veil.
There are other Biblical elements as well, such as a literal Lake of Fire and Adam being scoffed at by those who grew up with him on Earth before his true nature is fully revealed.
At a time when Hollywood is taking other Messiah figures like Superman and twisting his origin so that he's basically sent to Earth by Lucifer instead of God the Father, MOTU does the opposite and provides not only top shelf entertainment, but also a moral undercurrent with truly timeless value.
Big snowstorm supposedly coming this weekend. Looks like it might be time to lock in for an all day marathon and watch every extended edition of Lord of the Rings
Look at the quotes and comments on this and see who’s really in a “cult”
then they whine and complain as to why Snyder fans are so defensive and call them cultists 💔🥀
Been rewatching Superman TAS and everything here is so apt. Cavill’s Superman and Clark is the closest to the one on the show. His Superman isn’t always smiling and his Clark isn’t a klutz. It’s great!
They turned Jor-El to Diddy who sent his child to rape all the women on earth and rule us and Real DC Fans decided to bring up Pa Kent discourse from 13 years ago to deflect from that
