Lots of chatter this week about renovating the Huntsman Center.
If we’re investing in the future of that building, we should honor its history too.
And there’s one glaring miss:
Utah Gymnastics has ZERO banners in the rafters.

It's Stake Conference, which means it's time for your semi-annual reminder that playing the organ for congregational singing is not the time to showcase your skills. Congregations don't need modulations and improvisation. Put the ego on ice and let the people sing!
I was hoping @DougFiefia would offer a different kind of politics than what we’ve had from the incumbent.
But when you make endorsements from some of Utah’s most polarizing politicians a centerpiece of your campaign...
Is Doug just a younger version of his opponent?
@49erCoug You're exactly right. My experience is that the parents who insert themselves over minor teenage infractions do more harm than good for their kids. I don't want my kids thinking that every little offense deserves a reaction. That's a heck of a way to live your life.
The parents of one of my child's friends will occasionally text me when their kid’s feelings get hurt by normal kid behavior. It's rarely a big deal.
Tonight my child got this from their kid:
“We’re all hanging out… but sorry, you’re not invited.”
Do I return the favor? 😂
@DeeJzNuts@itschappy Fair points, and I’m open to it if the process and long-term economics hold up.
My skepticism is more about transparency, governance, and who ultimately benefits. Especially when there are reports of political insiders positioned to profit heavily from public resource decisions.
@DeeJzNuts@itschappy Fair point. Again, I’m not arguing Utah shouldn’t pursue data infrastructure.
I just think Utahns should ask hard questions before committing massive land, water, and power resources, especially when similar headline-grabbing projects elsewhere haven’t delivered as promised.
@DeeJzNuts@itschappy I agree Eagle Mountain is better off for having Meta there. I’m not anti–data center.
I’m saying there’s a difference between local economic benefit… and building Utah-owned generational wealth.
@itschappy Both infrastructure projects.
But one helped create Utah-owned industrial and financial power that stayed here for generations, and still benefits all Utahns.
The question isn’t whether Utah should build infrastructure. It’s who captures the long-term upside once it’s built.
@Joshua_Newman Not nearly my favorites, but the Christmas movies have to be the most frequently watched... family tradition every year to watch Elf, Christmas Vacation, Christmas with the Kranks, etc
@Joshua_Newman You’re backing up at some point no matter what. Either on the way in or the way out.
The difference?
Backing out = I get your spot.
Suddenly I’m not annoyed… I’m grateful.
@fwaygotay First, congratulations on being *the* Bishop who has figured out how to consistently pull that off!
Second, I have no doubt that you, of all bishops, will figure out a way to make this work, and to adapt the names to something more "sticky"
I'm not creative enough.
Interesting branding decision by the Church... imagine the clunkiness of announcements from the pulpit ... "remember that the Builder of Faith group will meet on the stage during the first half of the second hour today"
Love the direction, can wait to see how this plays out.
@Y_Soup This is a rebrand that has the potential to be awesome for these young ladies. And, the church has access to branding and marketing experts. I would be surprised if they were given the opportunity to weigh in... (not that that is how that your job operates, but it wouldn't hurt)
