People will say Malone whiffed on JBB but I don’t think him and Keita together was ever the plan both great players but you couldn’t rely on them being your top 2 bigs I would much rather Keita and a guy who might not be an NBA prospect but is more ready for the college game now

I do like UNCs roster especially considering I think Malone will get the most of out everyone but not having a true go to guy does concern me and they most likely aren’t getting Juke Harris so either Brown or Able is probably going to have to develop into that guy

If UNC end up with Sayon Keita he’s fine but he’s probably a better NBA prospect than he is a college player I just don’t think he gives you much outside of a lob threat on offense which is also going to clog the lane for a team that doesn’t have shooters

I get you want to keep what you have but UNC needs to start telling these guys that are 50/50 on coming back they need an answer sooner and if they don’t know just move on

UNC is fucked without Veesaar there’s nothing in the portal that can come close to replacing him unless they have an international big

But also the NCAA needs to get this shit figured out because if all these guys that just graduated are eligible to come back it’s going to be a mess there’s going to end up being guys that just committed to new schools in the current portal reentering the portal

I do like the idea of giving a 5th of eligibility and just eliminating redshirts I think it will keep more guys from transferring after their freshman year because very few guys actually use the redshirt in basketball because they will play garbage time minutes

Obviously Mingo is a straight bucket and will be a hell of a player.

That being said, Malone wants to win right away. Taking a risk on a 18 year old over a 3 year old+ vet with lots of college experience is the new new in CBB.

Losing Mingo and Dixon sucks but neither of them are starters for a national championship team right now I don’t blame Mingo for wanting more of a guaranteed role and Dixon should take the money he was offered Dixon more hurts for what he could have been as a junior and senior
