One major thing that turned around how I thought about "friendslop" games is how I also will easily pay ~$30 with my irl group of friends to do an Escape Room, which I play literally once
Or drinks, or KBBQ, or any of the other things you do with friends
$8 for a game isn't bad
@TierZoo Honestly, I’ve always thought it’d be fun to do a trailer like this but have voice comms that actually feel real? These HR mandated communication guideline conversations are so eyeroll inducing and would be so easy to subvert
@NoodleVEVO@AstralDepthsTR The only thing to like genuinely cover this was Hunt the Truth, which still remains the best written media ever produced under 343
It’s crazy that a fucking supplemental podcast was more riveting, relevant and thought-provoking than the whole ass campaign for Halo 5
@rstyxd I liked Nezha 2, and this scene has some great lighting and staging - but imo KPDH had a ton more artistic value in its stylization and how far they pushed their rigs in order to make those extreme expressions and poses. Sony Pictures Animation is actively innovating 3D animation
@rageasura24 I wouldn’t 100% say they were “experimenting” with CGI in The Flash, but the lens distortion probably did cause some troubles (because of the two Ezras)
Most people who watched the film before the final cut probably didn’t expect it to still have that plastic uncanny valley look
@rageasura24 So what you might be keying in on is the cinematography! Both Superman and The Flash opted for full frame cameras with distinctive wide lens for a hyperreal, comic panel look
Henry Braham is the cinematographer for Superman and The Flash, GotG Vol. 2 & 3, and The Suicide Squad
@CONEY Buying NEW physical games in 2025 doesn’t actually do jack shit for games preservation. Games are a digital medium & are preserved digitally. It was different in the past, but not now
Collectors don’t need to justify themselves! Buy what you want. It just doesn’t make you a hero
@CONEY “Mario Kart World” is actually a big theme park that Mario built on his private island from Super Mario Land 2, celebrating the lands he visited in his adventures. That’s why there’s recreations of Sarasaland and Peach’s Castle. It’s like if Gilgamesh built Epcot
I remember back in the among us phase, Nux would just cheat by pulling the other creator’s streams up to check if they were imposters. Since the beginning he’s always been this fucking loser with no friends. Glad to see he’s still at it!
@coreyzinho@TripleAAAkers7@JboiHQ Or it completely holds up because if there’s one thing I’ve learned through Andor it’s that Cassian would definitely completely lie about his life story just to win an argument with Jyn lmao
@SamitoFPS Deadass, the real thing they genuinely need right now is a good animated show
The game is in a much better spot right now. If they’re able to actually pay off the lore, the Arcane/Edgerunners effect would funnel in tons of new players for an actual Renaissance
@MCSCRUNGUS@RiloeGaming After that cinematic, I'd actually be down if they made Ben Starr whisper logs in your head audiobook style while you multitask shooting heads
The most compelling story post-Bungie Halo ever told was "Hunt the Truth", huge potential for audio drama storytelling in games tbh
@RiloeGaming Five Nights at Freddy's had similar ARG Easter Egg style storytelling. But similar to the Marathon ARG, it's the kinda thing a few people experience, and most people watch
I think, similar to Destiny's tutorialization, Bungie might outsource the bulk of storytelling to creators
@evanf1997_ Everything about this game is cooler than the actual game, which looks alright. There was no audience participation, so why was it live? $40 and no VOIP is worrisome, loot reset feels dumb
Honestly, I just hope they make a show about this game so I can enjoy the world somehow
@Skarrow9 What the story experience will be like Day 1!
Context: I'm a Halo guy, so I got Destiny on Day 1, binged what campaign there was (w Peter Dinklage) and was so disappointed that I never played again 😭
Marathon's art direction is reeling me in, but I don't wanna be burned twice
@CONEY Video games were incredibly resilient against inflation for decades. NES games cost $50 in the 80s and Wii games cost $50 in the 2010s
If we adjust for inflation, Switch 2 games are still ~1/2 what NES games cost. People say “pay devs well & no crunch” and get shocked at prices
