Olympic gold medalist Imane Khelif was name-dropped in World Boxing’s rollout of mandatory genetic sex testing - and now its president is scrambling to apologize.

After global backlash, Boris van der Vorst admitted it was a “mistake” to single her out:

"I am writing to you all personally to offer a formal and sincere apology for this and acknowledge that her privacy should have been protected."

World Boxing, now overseeing boxing at the 2028 Olympics, will enforce sex testing on all athletes starting July 1.
