🚨 SHOCKING: Sri Lankan Tamil migrant worker Sivarasa Anojan has reportedly been sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia over a Facebook comment deemed insulting to Islam and Prophet Muhammad.

He had deleted the comment within minutes and later apologised. His original sentence was 5 years in prison and a SAR 3 million fine, but his appeal reportedly resulted in a death sentence.

Sri Lankan authorities are helplessly pursuing legal and diplomatic efforts to save him.

I think it was a bad decision to come back to India. It's time to go back to the US.

There is nothing left in India for the GCs, especially males.

I don't want my 5 year old son to face the harsh realities of the reservation, acts and laws, when he grows up.

If one day, he asks me, why can't he get into the top IIT, but his SC/ST friend can, even with half his marks, and the same economic status, I will have no answer. I guess I will just have to say, it's because we don't care about merit, but representation.

When an IIT Bombay professor upholding exam integrity catches a student using ChatGPT or cheating 𝗛𝗘 should not be targeted with an FIR and a criminal probe!

Every student's life is deeply precious & one feels so bad the young student committed suicide & lost his life. IIT BOMBAY must ensure counseling. Our education system & institutions must prioritize mental & emotional health support for all children.

Prior to this case very unfortunate suicide, two other students at IIT BOMBAY also committed suicide & hence IIT BOMBAY needs to introspect within & urgently reform.

However framing honest teachers for enforcing rules sets a dangerous precedent as it kills meritocracy and fuels brain drain.

#𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗕𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁 stands 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗠𝗟𝗬 with 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗮 𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮 and the IIT Bombay Faculty Forum.

IIT Bombay student Sahil Wakode died by suicide after being caught using a phone during an exam, Uploading on ChatGPT and copying answers. The institute says he was counselled and assured that his academic career would not be affected.

His family has alleged caste discrimination, invoked the SC/ST Act and are demanding compensation under the act along with crime branch investigation; the allegations are under investigation.

But IIT Bombay has also seen other student suicides this year, including Naman Agarwal. Their deaths did not trigger the same caste-discrimination narrative.

Just because they were General Category (GC) students?

If caste is not established as the cause in those cases, why should it be presumed here before the investigation is complete?

Does the identity of a student determine how society chooses to remember and discuss a tragedy?

A highly qualified and respected professor has now said he is leaving his job.

Will teachers and professors, from now on, feel free to teach, counsel, correct and perform their duties with SC/ST students—or will they start avoiding such interactions out of fear?

Who stands to lose—the teachers, the students, or the nation?
