In 1790, Tipu Sultan slaughtered 700 Iyengar Brahmins on just one Diwali night. To this day, their children do not celebrate Diwali.
Today, offspring of Tipu are officially labelled by Indian state as the "oppressed" and they enjoy reservations.
But children of these slain Iyengars are banded as 'oppressors' and discriminated against at schools and jobs.
This is Indian reservation system in a nutshell.
Her name was Swati Reddy.
She was 27 years old. A nurse at a private hospital in Nagarkurnool, Telangana. She had been married to Sudhakar Reddy, a 32-year-old businessman, for three years. They had two children.
She was also in a relationship with Rajesh Ajjakolu, a physiotherapist at the same hospital. The affair had started before her marriage and continued after.
Together, they decided to kill Sudhakar and replace him with Rajesh.
The plan was inspired by a 2014 Telugu thriller called Yevadu in which a character undergoes plastic surgery and takes on another man's identity.
On the night of November 26 2017, Swati injected Sudhakar with anaesthesia while he slept. When he fell unconscious, she and Rajesh struck him on the head with an iron rod. They then burnt his body in a forest outside the town.
Two days later, Swati poured acid on Rajesh's face. She then took him to a hospital and told Sudhakar's family that her husband had been attacked by unknown assailants with acid. He needed plastic surgery. His face would look different afterward. Sudhakar's parents rushed to the hospital.
They believed it was their son.
They sat by his bedside for days. They paid Rs 5 lakh in hospital bills. They prayed for his recovery.
Then came the mutton soup.
As is standard practice for burn patients, the hospital served a bowl of mutton soup. Rajesh refused it. Sudhakar's family was confused. Sudhakar had loved mutton soup his entire life.
The family began testing him. They asked him to identify relatives by name. He could not. He stopped speaking and began writing responses on his palm.
Sudhakar's brother filed a police complaint. Police questioned Swati. She confessed.
Sudhakar's body was recovered from the forest where it had been burnt. His parents performed his last rites. Swati's parents performed her symbolic last rites too. They disowned her and said she was dead to them.
Swati and Rajesh were arrested. Rajesh told police the entire plan was Swati's idea.
She killed her husband, burned his body, poured acid on her lover's face, and had her in-laws pay for his hospital treatment while he pretended to be their son.
A bowl of mutton soup ended the plan.
Repost this. Some stories must not be allowed to disappear.
Her name was Lini Puthussery.
She was 31 years old. A nurse at the Perambra Taluk Hospital in Kozhikode Kerala. She had been working there for six years.
She had two sons. Ritul was five years old. Sidharth was two years old.
In May 2018 the Nipah virus arrived in Kerala. Two brothers and a relative were brought to the hospital with symptoms nobody had seen before.
Lini was on night duty when they arrived. She cared for them through the night.
They died soon after. Confirmed Nipah positive.
By Friday Lini herself had fallen ill.
She was shifted to the ICU at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.
When she learned she had contracted the Nipah virus she asked the hospital not to allow her two sisters to visit. She did not want them exposed.
From the ICU she wrote a note to her husband Sajeesh.
“Sajeesh I am almost on my way. I don’t think I will be able to see you. Sorry. Please look after our little ones and take them to the Gulf. They should not be alone like our father. Lots of love.”
She died on May 21, 2018.
Her body was cremated quickly to prevent the spread of infection. Her family could not say a proper goodbye.
She did not hesitate when the patients arrived.
She did not ask who would care for her sons if she fell ill.
She showed up for her shift and did her job.
Today is International Nurses Day.
Her name was Lini Puthussery. She deserves to be remembered.
500+ days in jail.
Bail denied. Again.
Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu, a spiritual leader and an ISKCON monk, continues to languish behind bars in Bangladesh while the world watches.
When even his lawyers are intimidated, threatened and silenced in court corridors, what justice are we even talking about?
Is advocating for the rights of the Minority Hindu community a crime? When a saffron-clad soul is treated like a criminal for raising his voice, the world CANNOT remain silent.
I appeal to the Government of Bangladesh to give medical aid and, more importantly, access to fair justice to Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu immediately. May he be granted bail at the earliest.
And to all the pseudo-secularists and Selective Human rights Activists around the World who flood timelines overnight, wave watermelons and trend hashtags on cue, your silence can be still heard. Apparently, your humanity has a filter.

This is not fiction. This is what ‘Love Jihad’ looks like.
India needs to understand why Pakistan thinks that it won the war. This isn’t a normal state that cares about high value targets, geo-strategic positioning or even their airbases.
There are two metrics which Pakistanis (jihadists) measure any conflict. Did we kill Hindus? Did we gain or lose any land?
The targeted murder of Hindus in Kashmir means that one of their war aims was completed before India fired back and the fact that the Islamic world lost no land to the infidels means that the war was a total victory.
To be blunt, if Pakistan were to attack tomorrow and lose 1 million men, 100 aircraft and have their cities blown to bits but managed to kill one Hindu and the border remains the same, that is a Pakistani victory. All of those dead Muslims go to heaven, so that is a win. There is a dead Hindu, so that is another win and the Ummah didn’t shrink which is the ultimate win.
All this being said it means that Operation Sindoor part 2 will happen in response to some terrorist attack and if you want to avoid Operation Sindoor part 3 and deter further terrorism you will need to take at least 1km of land on the border of Kashmir from Pakistan and turn it into a buffer zone (I’d build a bunch of Hindu temples as well).
The entire world will screech uncontrollably like they do when Israel has to defend itself, but that will be the price for peace and stability.
This is not a Hyderabad city police case. It is a NIA case. They must be taken for interrogation by NIA, then interviewed to understand how they got radicalised like this, what content they consumed & from where, and who's programming them? Then go after that source to end that.
