One question I was asked at the Victoria Falls conference last week was whether finance professionals should be blamed when companies collapse or become involved in financial scandals. My answer was no. If there is any group to hold accountable, it is the board. The board has the ultimate authority to set direction, oversee the business, and hire or remove executives. That responsibility cannot be shifted elsewhere when things go wrong.
At executive level, it is also misplaced to single out one individual, such as the Finance Director. Company failure is a collective leadership failure. The entire executive team is responsible. Where was the rest of the leadership when decisions were being made and risks were building up? While finance leaders often have direct access to the board and a platform to influence decisions, it is not reasonable to stretch that into sole accountability. There is a CEO and a full executive team whose role is to lead and act together.
I also made the point that speaking up against poor practices is not about technical competence. You can have highly skilled professionals in any field who remain silent when things go wrong. The real issue is personal courage. The willingness to challenge decisions, to speak truth to power, and to take a stand when it matters is rare. Many people weigh the personal cost, job security, relationships, and future prospects. Yet, many corporate failures could be avoided if more individuals at senior levels had the resolve to call out bad practices when they see them.

At our Farm we make a lot of our own feed for our chickens and ducks. We also stock these mini electronic Chigayos for other homesteaders , urban chicken growers or farmers for $189. Does a 50kg sack in about 6-8 min. Save cash save time. Details in thread.
@Brian___Jethro Thatโs expensive as you will need to demolish the whole thing and start afresh. Better look for medium density stand with that money.
