Shakthi Thirumagan was watched on Hotstar. Only someone whose blood, skin and bones are full of Dravidam could have made such an ideologically committed film.
The bad guy is not just a bad guy, he is a TamBrahm supervillain named Abhyankar Swamy who speaks fluent English, quotes Sanskrit verses, does Yagna for 8 days with a budget of 1.5 crore, is openly casteist and speaks Tamil in Brahmin slang.
The good guy is not just a good guy. Kittu is an orphan born to a hill tribe, and is mentored by a goody-good humane artist who is a symbolic EVR. He is raised by "Dravidian" ideals, reads Bharathidasan, questions superstitions, quotes Thirukural, and is essentially an egalitarian Robinhood communist who speaks normal Tamil.
The likes of Abhyankar are compared to a fox (a common D trope used in their cartoons to denote Brahmins) and a dialogue states that the spit of this (Aryan) fox can poison this (Dravidian) land for thousands of years.
The antidote? The walking stick of the rational old man which can be used to not just lean on, but to "strike back" as well. Make of that what you will.
Great care has been taken on the names, surnames and getups. Shady minister is made to resemble our FM, whereas a Tamil superhacker boy who crashed Seattle's iPhone network is named "Pappu". The real Pappu is CBFC, perhaps some Kittu mediated for a proper censor certificate with no cuts.
Move over Vetrimaaran, Arun Prabhu has replaced you as the most brazen voice of Dravidawood.
