@caspertown42 There will be many other departments/teams with the same issue or concern. I can’t see how you can review one banding only and not all of them.
@caspertown42 It still doesn’t answer the question though. Say in community all B5 are reviewed and should be B6 then those working as B6 already who are line managing the current B5 are then getting paid the same as their role isn’t being reviewed? How will that work?
@alisonleary1@MrsJillyH Do you think that will ever happen - doctors taking the work back? They’re already stretched too? There’s nurse prescribers beings paid B6 - IMO they should be at least a 7 if not an 8 with that responsibility. It’s all wrong and 3.3% this year 😡🤬.
@Mutteroo@PeterStefanovi2@WendyNowak So fight for them too then? Let’s not drag everyone down with poor increases because others have it too. Everyone needs more to live so tell your friends daughter to fight for more and let NHS staff do the same.
@NurseStandard This won’t solve anything as what happens to bands above a 5 if B5s change to a 6 then the 6s will need the same doing? If unions are agreeing with this then they need to think again.
@alisonleary1 How do the rest of us go about getting this done in England now? I had to fight get paid at B6 midpoint (was B5 at time of training). In my trust, and many others, you don’t need the qualification to be promoted to B6.
@MarkRose513691@ejgarner85 The @theRCN are useless. They rolled over on the last pay offer and told us that’s all we’d get and then endlessly tweeted pushing us to accept it. Now we’ve just rejected the next one too and that’s all gone quiet after we galvanised staff to vote. We’re losing momentum again.
@MarkRose513691@ejgarner85 Fight for the hours you’re owed or don’t do them. Staff are keeping the NHS going by doing unpaid hours and that’s wrong! Because you do the hours doesn’t mean you should push that attitude down to others that I do it so should you. We should be fighting for better for all of us
@MarkRose513691@ejgarner85 On the shift when the clock goes forward. And like you say we work so many unpaid hours that it wouldn’t hurt to not deduct that hour!
@MarkRose513691@ejgarner85 Yes I care for my patients but with managers with the same attitude as you we’re doomed. I actually can’t believe I’ve just read what I did. When I’ve worked this shift every single nurse on shift has been annoyed you don’t get the hour paid. We don’t get it back as rarely
@BakerKatyhaynes@NurseStandard@theRCN That’s really hard and I feel for you and everyone that is impacted by our poor pay. Accepting it though just continues the struggle in the long run. I don’t know the answer as you’re stuck either way 😢. What a state for us to be in that we have staff who can’t afford to live 😢
@BakerKatyhaynes@NurseStandard If we don’t challenge this pay won’t improve . Doctors achieved a higher offer by continuing with strike action. @theRCN let their members down last year with their relentless campaign to get members to accept. Now they recognise that was poor advice and we deserve more. Reject!
@MLud47674547 @timsykes3 @andreajenkyns Your wife’s situation is very different to those starting their careers now. Solidarity to them from a nurse who is gutted we didn’t get a mandate for further strike action. Keep going teachers 💪🏻🪧
@MLud47674547 @timsykes3 @andreajenkyns Your tweet tells me that your wife taught in a time when the wages were good, mortgages were low and you’re probably well on the housing ladder/paid off mortgage. The youngsters you speak of cannot get on the mortgage ladder in todays climate. Wages have been suppressed for years
@Alexsahistul@Curleypussycat @Master75272373 @DrJessa There’s 47,000 registered nurses vacancies so we’re all short staffed. To get signed off to take bloods we have to jump through hoops. We need time away from the ward to do the training, which with low levels of staffing is not a priority. We then need to be watched for a
@Alexsahistul@Curleypussycat @Master75272373 @DrJessa We monitor patients all day obs, meds, emotional support, make up and administer IVs, transfusions, chemo, personal care, documentation, skin integrity, escalate to drs if concerns, regular observations, many do take bloods but hospitals should have a phlebotomy team also!
@kim42110 @theRCN@patcullen9 You’re missing the point that they let staff down by saying we should accept. Other unions did the same (except Unite who I will be looking to join now as they have a back bone!) and this will have influenced the votes across the unions with staff thinking that’s all we’re going
