i’m seeing a lot of
“bipolar doesn’t make you write and produce a whole song called He!l H!tler”
“bipolar symptoms don’t make you a nazi”
actually it can
White man with neurological disorder shouting slurs in public = Must be understood and forgiven, actually the truest victim of the situation
Black man with neurological disorder and mental illness having manic episodes on the internet = Must be punished to no end, irredeemable
No neo-Nazi will drop "Jesus Is King."
No neo-Nazi will drop "Jesus Walks."
No neo-Nazi will project Christ to the world because Christianity frowns upon the actions of Nazis or neo-Nazis or whatever you call those group of people.
I don't support whatever Kanye West said about Jews back then, and I stand here to condemn those words, including what he said about hailing Hitler.
But what we refuse to forget sometimes is that Kanye has also been battling with his mental health for a long period of time which we are all aware of.
What if that led him to say those words?
What if he was in an episode when he took those actions?
What if he wasn't in the right state of mind when he brought all those controversies?
When he was posting all those porn stuffs?, even after he condemned porn as something which destroyed his family?
Have we thought about that?
This is someone we all know well who wouldn't just come out to say those words unless there's an underlying issue.
Taking all these into consideration, he realized he messed up big time, and that is why he came out to apologize.
He held the hands of a Rabbi and said he wanted accountability for his actions and a desire to clean up the mess he created stating clearly that he battles with Bipolar disorder and that causes him to take extreme ideas without considering the safety of himself and others. His apology was wholeheartedly embraced thereafter. That's what matters the most now.
A person is not defined by his mistakes but by the way he chooses to correct them.
Let's learn to focus on the creative aspect and forgo the persona sometimes because humans are bound to make mistakes all the time.
Let's learn to forgive and move on.❤️
The Kanye stuff is an interesting peek into the notion of accountability the post-2017 world. He lost a billion dollars, adidas deal, his wife, and a shit ton of business relationships. I think when people say they want “accountability” they actually mean “total ruin.”
