Something positive that has happened to me during this pandemic is that I have gotten a lot more time to spend with my mom and talk to other family members that I used to rarely call. This has resulted in all of us becoming closer. #messageinthesky#whsbioscudder
I find it hard to imagine life without access to water, yet billions of people have to live with limited and sometimes contaminated water. I hope that the changes in how we live as a result of the pandemic can help the environment enough to prevent further depletion of water.
According to the calculator, my personal water footprint is 1,077 gallons a day, and it is 2,154 gallons a day for the entire household. To reduce my water footprint, I can take shorter showers and start recycling bottles and cans. #WoodlandSavesWater#whsbioscudder
I agree with the idea of people eating locally produced food. It is better for the environment and our nutrition. Since some people may not want to go vegan or switch to eating insects, a sustainable food system is the best option. #foodprintsavesenvironment#whsbioscudder
My annual cheese consumption is contributing 201kg to my annual greenhouse gas emissions. This amount is equal to 514 miles driven in a car, 31 days to heat a home, or 727 eight minute showers. #foodprintsavesenvironment#whsbioscudder
(2/2) Although plastic in the ocean is still projected to increase, I hope that more countries can be inspired by Kenya's movement until every country has similar bans and the projected increase becomes a decrease. #plasticbagsnaturesvillain#whsbioscudder
I admire the creativity of the individuals in Kenya that are recycling the plastic that has been polluting their country and turning it into different reusable things. (1/2) #plasticbagsnaturesvillain#whsbioscudder
@scudder_suzanne Quarantining has resulted in increased plastic use and decreased recycling. Since people are avoiding going out too often, they need more groceries than usual, so they use more plastic bags and throw them away to avoid catching the virus. #plasticbagsnaturesvillain#whsbioscudder
"I think if this is a fire drill for things coming in the future, as difficult as it has been, it is showing us where our systems are weak. In the past, whenever we've discovered where our systems are weak, we tend, as a society, to figure out how to strengthen those weaknesses."
This phrase is meaningful to me because it describes a potential positive outcome: preparation for the future. Instead of something worse hitting humanity later on, resulting in confusion and an inability to adapt to the situation, we will have an idea of what to do.
