I fervently support medical marijuana because it would help thousands of Kentuckians who are suffering. I have fought for years to make it legal across the Commonwealth and I will continue that fight.
But I also stand for the Rule of Law.
90% of Kentuckians support legalizing medical cannabis, yet the legislature has repeatedly failed to do it. Today I took action, signing an executive order allowing those suffering from certain medical conditions to possess and use small amounts of medical cannabis on Jan. 1.

Was just told about a high school kid who has COVID-19; a coach told his team "if our game is cancelled, you can thank 'insert student's name'!" Now that kid is receiving threatening messages. What a pathetic display of leadership and quite frankly, manhood.
Courts shouldn’t make these decisions. Neither should one man. The way to legitimacy is for the legislature and the executive to work together to address these problems. No matter who wins in court, the other side will kvetch.
Enough is enough. Big times call for big leaders.
Let’s keep drug court participants and those in recovery for drugs and alcohol in mind as we go through this crisis. They aren’t getting the services they have come to rely on and there is a lot at stake for them, their families, and our communities. Peace be with us all.
