Islam was never meant to be a hyper specific rulebook listing every imaginable geographic anomaly. It gives principles and a legal methodology. That methodology is called ijtihad. Qualified scholars apply foundational texts to new circumstances. That is not scrambling. That is design.

You say the Quran does not account for abnormal days near the poles. But in Sahih Muslim the Prophet ﷺ described a future time when a day would be like a year. The companions asked if one day’s prayers would be enough. He said no, estimate its measure. Calculate it.

When natural time markers break down, Muslims calculate.

That principle alone dismantles your entire claim. The framework for polar irregularity was given fourteen centuries ago.

Then look at Banu Quraydha. The Prophet ﷺ told the companions not to pray Asr except there. One group took it literally and delayed prayer. Another understood it contextually and prayed on time. He accepted both. Why? Because sincere reasoning within the framework is valid.

Islamic law has always operated like this. It has legal maxims such as hardship brings ease and obligation is tied to capacity. The Quran explicitly says Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity.

So Muslims in Norway following Mecca timing or the nearest moderate latitude are not evidence of collapse. They are evidence that the legal system is functioning exactly as intended.

Every serious legal tradition works this way. The US Constitution does not mention the internet, yet it governs it through interpretation. Universality does not require endless technical footnotes. It requires durable principles.

Islam spread across Africa, Central Asia, China, the Balkans and Scandinavia long before modern astronomy debates. It did not fall apart when it left Arabia. It expanded.
