That's the part about trust we don't talk about enough.

Sometimes, you're not taking the risk yourself.

You're just standing close enough to someone else's risk that, when everything falls apart, you fall with them.

Even the third time, everything was fine.

But the fourth time changed everything.

An arrangement was eventually made, and he had to pay part of a debt he never benefited from.

But the debt still had to be dealt with.

And guess who they came looking for?

The guarantor.

Sometimes, they go wrong after you've become comfortable.

The money they borrowed for agriculture was diverted into something else.

The business didn't go as planned.

The money was gone.

Then the people who collected the loan became difficult to reach.

But the man I was working with wasn't part of the business.

He wasn't investing.

He wasn't taking any of the profit.

He was simply the guarantor.

He had his own business to worry about.

But things don't always go wrong at the beginning.
