@JayzTwoCents give yourself that edge by going down and selling it. Refs have to get better at carding for simulation.
Same thing happens in hockey btw... just differently in hockey rather than going down and rolling around. You gain competitive edge by tripping, roughing, holding, etc
@JayzTwoCents a deck of cards that has identifiable marks on them are you going to tell the dealer or are you going to use those marks if you're smart enough to see/spot them to give yourself an edge. Same thing in Soccer. If the refs are going to continually call penalties are you going to
@ABFreedumbFyter@ExYYC The secure e transfer you mean like how you literally get your tax refund, if you're an AISH recipient or get child support all goes through the same platform on my alberta?
Everyone says wages haven’t kept up with inflation.
The real story is more complicated.
Federal minimum wage in 1979: $2.90.
Federal minimum wage in 2025: $7.25.
That’s only 250% growth while inflation grew 444%.
So yes minimum wage workers got destroyed.
But average wages actually grew 629% while inflation was only 444%.
Meaning the average worker technically gained ground.
So why does everything feel impossible.
Because averages lie.
The gains went to the top.
The guy making $400,000 and the guy making $32,000 average out to something that sounds fine.
The $32,000 guy is still drowning.
The $400,000 guy skewed the whole number.
We don’t have a wage problem for everyone.
We have a wealth distribution problem that hides inside the averages.
And politicians on both sides use those averages to tell you everything is fine.
While half the country can’t cover a $1,000 emergency.
@Jason___YYC my guess is his attempt is to warm up the private sector to investment and show that there's at least a short term turn around and opportunity for profits for teh next 10/15 years.
Given the economic damage Alberta separation would cause Calgary, staying silent is not an option. I believe municipalities should be allowed to tell residents what the evidence says. I'm calling on the Province to remove the restrictions so cities can commission and share independent, fact based research on the local impacts of separation.
We are also seeing coordinated foreign interference and disinformation designed to fuel division. Calgary's future depends on stability, investment, and public confidence. We are ready to help get credible information into the hands of Calgarians. The Province should let us.
and that's what every team needs to do now. Go out and play their game and not focus on who the opponent is. Just give yourself a chance to win by being your best.
When are fans going to realize the opponent doesn't matter. Sure on paper x team should be better than y team. BUT what's the f'n point of playing the games then if we went by what rankings are or whats on paper. You have to play the fucking games and the ball is round.
Morocco, Netherlands, - it doesn't matter. Paraguay Germany proved that.
Canada is going to have a tough match every match moving forwards. Turns out it's going to be Morocco instead of Holland.
Either match was going to require us to play our best game.
@harperlee789 For it to be life changing it would require it to change my life. For most Americans 50k pays off some debts, maybe student loans, is a nice down payment towards a house or payment on a mortgage. Maybe a kitchen renovation or new fancy outdoor deck. It isn't going to change lives
Objectively is there a more distinct, highly recognizable and considerably Unique Flag than the Canadian Flag?
Other mentions: Japan, US(ofc), Union Jack, Brazil.. but nothing quite stands out like the red maple leaf on white.
Poilievre’s riding in AB is experiencing a natural disaster (flooding) can someone let him know or does he not give shit about his constituents? Critchley who ran against PP in the by election is out serving her community. Vote better for those that stand up for the people.
Zlatan Ibrahimović on Canada qualifying for the FIFA World Cup Round of 16 for the first time ever:
🗣️ “This is why people fall in love with football. Today wasn't just about Canada qualifying for the Round of 16 it was about an entire nation creating history that nobody can ever take away.”
“I looked at the faces of the Canadian players after the final whistle. Some were crying, some couldn't believe what had just happened. Those weren't tears of weakness; they were tears of people who had spent their whole lives dreaming of this exact moment.”
“To the supporters, never let anyone tell you football is just a game. I saw families celebrating, children hugging their parents and fans singing with tears in their eyes. These are the moments that unite a country forever.”
“People will remember the goals and the result, but they'll never understand the sacrifices behind it. Years of criticism, disappointments, injuries and pressure have all led to one unforgettable night. That's what makes history so beautiful.”
“For every Canadian player wearing that shirt tonight, remember this feeling. You are no longer just footballers you are the generation that changed your country's football story forever. Every child who picks up a ball tomorrow will believe because of what you achieved today.”
“The knockout stage doesn't care about history, reputation or big names. It rewards courage, belief and those who refuse to give up. Canada earned this moment because they never stopped believing when the rest of the world doubted them.”
“And to the fans, celebrate like there's no tomorrow because nights like these don't come often. Years from now, people won't ask where you watched the match they'll ask how it felt to witness the night Canada reached the Round of 16 for the very first time.”
“This is bigger than football. This is the night an entire nation stopped dreaming about history and started living it.”
