Here's the full plot summary with all spoilers for The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey (Apple TV+ series & Walter Mosley book):

91yo Ptolemy Grey has severe dementia in LA. Great-nephew Reggie (his caretaker) is killed in a drive-by. 17yo Robyn becomes his devoted caregiver, cleaning his hoarded home.

Ptolemy takes experimental drug from Dr. Rubin that fully restores his memory but will kill him in months.

With clarity he recalls 1925 Mississippi: as a boy, mentor Coydog gave him stolen gold treasure to help Black people before being lynched. Ptolemy hid it in LA but forgot.

He recovers the millions in coins, secures them, and sets up a will/trust. Robyn will manage: stipends for family, college for kids, foundation for young Black leaders/community uplift.

Ptolemy investigates Reggie's murder, learns Alfred (jealous ex of Reggie's wife) did it. He lures Alfred, gets confession, shoots him in struggle. Alfred dies on street.

Ptolemy arrested. Drug wears off, dementia returns fully. He's institutionalized. Robyn stays by him. He dies peacefully, having kept his promise.

Robyn battles greedy family in court but honors his vision. Ptolemy fulfilled his one duty.
