🏆 40 YEARS AGO TODAY, on July 3, 1986, 🇮🇪 Velvet McIntyre defeated The Fabulous Moolah in Brisbane, Australia to become WWE’s first-ever Irish Women’s Champion.

The photo on the left is the only known image of Velvet holding the WWF Women’s Championship, while the photo on the right is an AI-enhanced HD recreation.

Moolah regained the title just six days later in Sydney. Although Velvet’s reign wasn’t acknowledged on WWF television at the time, WWE now officially recognizes it in its championship history.

With the title change taking place at a house show, no footage is known to exist, making this rare photo a true piece of wrestling history. 📸✨
