Every Mardi Gras Day, something extraordinary emerges from the backstreets of New Orleans. It’s a tradition most tourists will never see. This Sunday, 60 Minutes goes inside the elaborate culture of the Mardi Gras Indians, also known as Black Masking Indians. https://t.co/o3HSfJAt5B

On this date: 3-28 1979, the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant narrowly avoided the 2nd-largest largest meltdown in American history. 😆

14 tornadoes have been confirmed from the March 11, 2026 event.
This is the most tornadoes in a single day in our area since April 10, 2024 which had 15.
The strongest and widest tornado occurred west of McComb, MS and was rated 110 mph EF-1.
This delivery driver was so focused on delivering, she didn’t realize that there was a tornado not far from her and that the sirens were blaring to warn others.
The customer yelled at her to come inside, he didn’t want her in harms way because it’s the right thing to do. However at the time this was going on, the delivery company did not send any warning to the drivers nor did they tell them to cancel deliveries for the day
Fulfilling orders is important but should not take precedence over the safety of the drivers, should these companies change their inclement weather policy?
Two months ago I shared that I had been bitten by a dog on Jackson Square.
Thanks again to the many people who reached out with concern and kind messages — it meant a lot.
Healing is going well, though my leg is still bandaged from the knee down. These injuries take time, and they are a reminder that dog attacks can be more serious than many people realize.
Since the incident I’ve been paying closer attention while walking through the Quarter and other areas, and it’s clear that many dogs in busy public spaces are not being properly restrained.
A respectful request to fellow dog owners: please keep your pets under close control in crowded areas.
And an appeal to city leaders: Sensible rules about dogs in public spaces — and consistent enforcement — help protect residents, visitors, and responsible pet owners alike.
Looking forward to being fully back on my feet soon to photograph this beautiful city. 🙂
When I put aside all my existential fears, stuff like this and the dancing’s Chinese robots, and the fact we can just talk to our phones are all mindblowing and little kid me would have loved to know we’d get to see stuff like this
