Am I understanding this correctly?
A customer buys a product.
The product is delivered.
The customer then claims they never received it and files a chargeback.
The merchant not only risks losing the payment and the product, but are apparently charged a dispute fee.
If that is how the system works, how is a small business supposed to protect itself from dishonest claims?
Surely there has to be a fairer balance between consumer protection and merchant protection.
Many small businesses operate on tight margins. Losing the product, the revenue, and then paying a dispute fee can be a significant financial hit.
I'd genuinely like to understand how merchants are expected to defend themselves when they have proof that goods or services were delivered.
