You can select three out of the five event-limited 5-Star Memories: [Xavier: Bound by Starlight], [Zayne: Past Midnight], [Rafayel: Alluring Hues], [Sylus: Nightly Duet], and [Caleb: Spoils of Night]. The drop rate of the 3 Memories you selected will be significantly increased. Each time you obtain a 5-Star Memory, there's a 75% chance it will be one of the three Memories you selected.
*Notes:
1. During the event, you can change your selected Memories at any time. If you obtain a 5-Star Memory in a wish, there's a 25% chance that it will be an unselected Memory or a permanent 5-Star Memory.
2. After the event ends, the five event-limited Memories will not be obtainable through other means and will not enter the permanent Wish Pool: Xspace Echo.
3. The Wish event features Precise Wish and a pity system. For more details, please check the in-game rule page.

So apparently some people with no reading comprehension skill think this is referring to Lads giving up on Valko, and they even talked to CS about it.

Story explained:

Originally, the ship's mission was to explore unknown regions (expand market and attract new players).

However during the disaster, the sixth crew member (Valko) had an accident, so they decided to change the mission objective to ensuring the crew’s survival: keeping life support running at low energy consumption and waiting for the anomaly to end (playing it safe and keeping 5 LIs for now).

But during the long wait, the energy supply and life-support systems gradually failed one after another (the revenue and future plans for lads). In the end, all 5 crew members perished and vessel (Lads) lost forever.

Tldr: They KNOW they can't survive without Valko.
