What happened to me today felt like sharp knives tearing through me without stopping, shredding my body.

While I was on my way to throw some garbage in its designated place, a man sitting near the bins caught my attention, searching among them with exhausted hands, digging through the trash for any leftover food that might still be edible—just to break the hunger of his children.

I got closer… and when my eyes met his, the shock was unbearable. It was my university professor, the one who taught me in my field of specialization, the man I once saw in an academic position of high standing, with dignity and presence that commanded respect.

I could not comprehend what I was seeing. How could someone who once held top academic and social positions, and who used to live in comfortable financial conditions before everything that happened, be reduced to this scene: searching for scraps of food among the garbage!!

This war has created an extremely harsh reality, turning the lives of many families into an open-ended tragedy without mercy. Families that once lived in stability and abundance have now become besieged by hunger, asking for nothing but a piece of bread to keep them alive.
