Rant about phone theft:

Phone theft is reaching an all time high at festivals and it’s scary. Promotors, organizers, and venues really need to start taking massive precautions against this. People might not like it but metal detectors, bag checks, and exit security at this point need to start being implemented. These phone thieves aren’t just a few stragglers looking to make a quick buck. They are highly organized black market rings that are professionals in their craft. These theives make out with 10s if not 100s of thousands of dollars worth of devices an event. Think of of it. An iPhone costs around 1.5k. Let’s say 20 phones were stolen, that’s 30k. 100 phones? $150k. It keeps going up. I personally had my device stolen at a festival 2 years ago. It’s scary, invasion of privacy, theft, and anxiety of what is going to happen and how to replace it. Something needs to be done. I know personally, i’m anxious to even go into the crowd at shows because I don’t want to deal with a 1.5k loss of not only a device, but my lifeline. To sum this long post up. It’s going to take more then a few good samaritan’s tackling a phone thief, feativals and shows have to come up with a game plan to end this once and for all.
