Another FINALLY moment today. This article has been in the world for almost two years, and now you can finally see and cite it.
Allegory and Ambiguity in Late Antique Canon Lists - Read on https://t.co/vC6cvSFccc @degruyter_pub
If anybody needs a bsky invite code, I have 5. Just DM me.
Hopefully your colleagues at #SBLAAR2023 are telling you how great it is.
I post this knowing it will probably only be seen and liked by bots, but I leave it in the hope that a human may still encounter it.
When I post on here, I get the most traffic from bots I have to block. When I post on the other site, I talk to people.
So you can find me over there.
Okay, bye!

I should be writing, but why not instead ask Bing's AI to visualize a mosaic representing a Byzantine emperor flying over Constantinople on the back of a blue whale?
@FromPhDtoLife I read everything by @naominovik
All of it.
And doing so let me enjoy reading, thinking, imagining, and let me go to bed with something other than my dissertation in my mind.
Here's the podcast I wish existed but can't find:
Spiritual but also Religious
Exploring the mystical, magical, ritual, and communal aspects of the life of faith.
I'm envisioning a production style somewhere between Gastropod and BBC 4s Witch.
What's your dream podcast?
This. It's wild to study the centuries of communities that have done the work to preserve, transmit, critique and edit texts, without whom we would have nothing at all, and then see them written off as the main barrier between us and some pristine, hypothetical original.
Just a reminder that all readings and interpretations of the Bible are contextual, none is “correct” in any objective sense, and calling out others for being “wrong” is less interesting than interrogating *why* anyone, including oneself, privileges certain readings over others.
Okay, real question #academictwitter. If you converted your dissertation into a book, how long did it take you?
I would really like to, but I haven't had a chance to touch it in a year and I'm constantly feeling like I'm somehow behind.
I began my PhD in Sept 2012. My monograph comes out in November. It took 5 years to finish the PhD. About 3 years to rest & put my head back together; and 2 years of on & off editing to get it to print.
