Dolly's father eventually learned to write his own name. Robert Lee “Lee" Parton never learned to read or write as a child, something that embarrassed him deeply and eventually inspired Dolly's Imagination Library. But later in life, he learned at least to write his name. After his death, Dolly's brother Randy received their father's old green work lunch bucket and discovered that Lee had scratched his own name into its paint.

When i saw dolly parton a couple years ago she stopped the show and asked "do yall wanna see me play a little saxophone", pulled out a tiny toy saxophone and pretended to play yakety sax. And when she finished she said "you wanna see me play it in reverse?" and she turned around and did it again with her back facing the crowd.
