MD.45 released their debut—and ultimately only album, The Craving.

The project united Dave Mustaine with Lee Ving, delivering a raw blend of heavy metal, punk attitude, and hard rock. Though short-lived, The Craving has earned cult status among fans for its unique sound and standout tracks like “Day the Music Died.”

Nina DiGregorio’s cover of Van Halen’s ‘Eruption’, simply breathtaking! Amazingly a conventional violin wasn’t capable of playing EVH’s finger tapping parts on it. So Nina had a 7 string, fretted custom violin made. The results speak for themselves! Eddie would be proud

Is there such a thing as a band…trying too hard?

Now, I’m NOT saying this is a bad album. I actually like QUITE a few songs off this! I’m just wondering if this album was too ambitious for its own good. It’s a full on concept album about the prophecies of Nostradamus (Gee, wonder where I’ve heard that one before😂) and to me, I feel like this album lost the plot a little bit. The beginning of the album is REALLY good! Well, expect for the opener ‘We Burn’ which doesn’t sound properly mixed as Deris’ vocals as pushed WAY too far back in the mix. But ‘Steel Tormenter’ is a HEAVT hitter of a song! May be my favorite on the album! ‘Wake Up The Mountain’ is really good and ‘Power’ is awesome too!

‘Forever and One (Neverland)’ is a really good, emotional ballad based on the subject matter and Deris’ vocals are great on that song. But then the rest of the album is just…okay to me. I think songs like ‘Before The War’ and ‘Anything My Mama Don’t Like’ aren’t very good. But then songs toward the end like ‘A Million To One’ and ‘Kings Will Be Kings’ are good classic sounding Helloween songs!

Overall, I think I prefer Master Of The Rings over this. I think half of this album is really memorable, while the other half is just…okay. Nothing too special. And the band thought they could earn brownie points for including the dude from ‘Seven Keys’ on the cover! 😂
