Game Day Lift — Baseball
Game day doesn’t mean doing nothing.
It means doing the right things to prime the nervous system without creating fatigue.
Today’s lift was built around speed, activation, and joint readiness.
We started with banded barbell back squats for 2 reps, keeping bar speed above .75 m/s, paired with box jumps. The accommodating resistance forces the athletes to accelerate through the entire lift, and the jumps allow them to immediately express that power. This keeps the nervous system sharp and ready to produce force later in the day.
Next came neck work, hanging leg raises, and Russian twists to build midline stability and trunk control. In baseball, the ability to transfer energy from the ground through the core to the bat or throwing arm is everything.
Then we moved into lunges with a twist and band hip disassociation drills. These teach athletes to separate the upper and lower halves, which is critical for rotational sports like hitting and throwing.
We finished with single-leg sprinter calf raises and banded ankle ABCs to take care of the foot and ankle complex. The feet are the first point of contact with the ground, and strong, reactive ankles help athletes move efficiently and stay healthy.
Nothing excessive.
Just priming the system so the body is ready to perform.
Train with intent. Perform with confidence. ⚾️👊🏽
