Black maga didn’t just cast a vote. They cast a vote against their own people.
They voted for the purging of Black leadership from high-ranking government positions.
They voted for Black women to lose federal jobs and opportunities their ancestors fought to open.
They voted for the criminalization and mass targeting of Black and Brown immigrants.
They voted for the dismantling of the Department of Education while our children are already under attack educationally.
They voted for the rollback of civil rights protections and the continued gutting of the Voting Rights Act.
They voted for maps designed to dilute Black voting power and eliminate congressional districts represented by Black voices.
They voted for the erasure of Black history, as though our struggle and contributions are something to be hidden in shame.
They voted for a political culture that excuses corruption, cruelty, racism, authoritarianism, and the protection of pedophiles and predators.
They voted for white supremacy, white domination, and Black subjugation and dehumanization.
And the tragedy is this: our ancestors marched, bled, prayed, fought, were beaten, jailed, and murdered to move us forward, while some among us willingly voted to drag us backward toward the very Jim Crow systems they struggled to destroy.
History will remember that in a moment when Black people were under coordinated attack politically, economically, educationally, and socially, some people still chose proximity to whiteness over solidarity with their own community.
We must never let them forget what they did. They should never be invited back to the cookout again. They should be shunned, excommunicated, shut out, canceled, ostracized, dismissed, and shamed.

Reed’s book, developed from his dissertation, is based on Gen. 9:18-28, the curse of Canaan. In the biblical account, Canaan does nothing to earn Noah’s curse, which for centuries was used as biblical support for such atrocities as enslaving Black people.

John Perkins, dies at 95 | "John Perkins is probably one of the true unsung heroes in America — not in Black America, not in the church community, but in America," said the Rev. Barbara Williams-Skinner, co-founder of the Skinner Leadership Institute.

The Bible was written on three continents.
Asia.
Africa.
Europe.
In three languages.
Hebrew.
Aramaic.
Greek.
By over 40 different men —
Shepherds.
Kings.
Prophets.
Fishermen.
A doctor.
Across roughly 1,500 years.
Yet it tells one continuous story:
Creation.
Fall.
Redemption.
Christ.
Different writers.
Different centuries.
Different cultures.
One voice.
Because behind the human hands was a divine Author.
Men held the pens.
But God wrote the story.
"A lie told once is questioned. A lie repeated often enough becomes accepted. And once it becomes 'common sense,' people stop investigating it. That is how deception survives."
~ Malcolm X

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we honor Dr. King’s faith in the power of service to strengthen communities.
In 1994, President Clinton signed legislation establishing MLK Day as a national day of service — echoing Dr. King’s reminder that “the time is always ripe to do right.”
This #MLKDay, remember my father by:
Amplifying and advocating for the end of state-sanctioned and facilitated violence against Black and Brown immigrants and against people, period.
Speaking up for people who are suffering genocide in Sudan. Palestine, Congo, and other nations.
Calling and writing your Congresspersons in support of democracy as opposed to dictatorship.
Supporting policies to eradicate poverty (higher minimum wage, affordable housing, etc)
Learning the truth about and challenging anti-Black racism, which is still prevalent in healthcare, media, lending practices, the criminal “justice” system, etc.

This is pathetic. “I no longer feel an obligation to think of Peace” because he didn’t get a Nobel Prize he didn’t earn nor deserve. Words like “unhinged” don’t begin to describe the state of this presidency and this president.
.@EricHolder at @NationalAction breakfast: "We are seeing a sustained effort to eradicate the Voting Rights Act. That is the crown jewel of the Civil Rights Movement and an essential part of Dr. King's legacy...There is a concerted effort to re-segregate America."
Dr. King believed our democracy would only make sense when every child was fed, every mind was educated, and every community had dignity and freedom.
That vision is still unfolding. So, on this MLK Day, let us recommit to the work of building the world he dared to imagine.
