@Lfromthenorth I actually like Burnham but wouldn't vote for him. James Cleverly, Jeremy Hunt & Rishi Sunak to name 3 & to be balanced Shabana Mahmood, Tim Farron, Danny Kruger & Stephen Flynn. I agree with Kemi most but there is a lot of talent in both Houses of Parliament
@pablo9alexander@IainDale@BBCNewsnight@vicderbyshire It depends how many 2024 Labour voters still believe in Labour if it was run by one of their own rather than a middle class London lawyer. It also depends on Restore vote. Where I live more people have heard of Count Binface but apparently in Makerfield polling between 5 & 10 %
@ToryMemo82 Local Govt, devolution & house building. Do to the run down coastal resorts what you've done to Manchester. The only bit of this interview i liked was social care & he must go cross party on this but he's right we need the plan this year
@ToryMemo82 I'm a Tory & I really like Andy & wanted him to win in 2015. The problem is he's a campaigner & like Boris PM is the right role for him. If I was keir I'd offer to stand down at next year's party conference if polls don't improve & give Burnham Steve Reed's role with blank sheet
@BenObeseJecty He was with the flood of Conservative MPs who were going to defect before May elections. It was clearly Kate Hoey & she got cold feet & is probably very relieved because she'd never approve of the Kemi attacks
@SuellaBraverman Just a reminder Chief Constables are apolitical. From my experience PCCs don't get involved in training courses. As AB made clear last night his Chief Constable cancelled a lot of this inclusion agenda & Burnham supported him. I'm sure Donna Jones would do the same
@TomTugendhat tom - Isn't this focus on ยฃxbn or x% of GDP silly. It's what we need to spend in conjunction with our allies to be safe that matters. Spending less as its more dangerous in Middle East is nonsense. In a more general point given MOD overspend it might make sense to hold a bit back
@aljhlester She also says her children feel 100% English as they have never known anything else. Suella Braverman says she's not English. Rishi Sunak says he's 100% English but they both have the same background i.e born in England to foreign parents. I'm afraid it is complicated.
@aljhlester I think it is complicated & she's trying to be honest about how she feels having been born to Nigerian parents & growing up there. I've met many people with Scottish parents who say they feel Scottish having never lived there. She's talking about feeling not having a strict rule.
@DPJHodges The person who has been most impressive on this is Emily T. Key questions still unanswered. Jones stuff is minor but no idea why he's covered up. If he'd replied when asked Peter was a close colleague & I sent him a message wishing him well as I would have with any colleague.
@AJ78292@CrewkerneMan He could have selected one attack line & stuck to it. What about Mayor precept ? I understand Andy Street never increased his in West Mids but Burnham's increases each year. Other candidates were pally with AB. Should have included Restore as that would have been box office
@seledka_vodka@PennyMordaunt On LGBTQ & trans rights Penny was always on the more liberal wing. I suspect this comes from her own personal circumstances with a gay rights supporting twin. She doesn't publicise this but they had a tough start to life & politicians will always be driven by personal experience
@DPJHodges It would be classic mandelson to stitch up his friend in the cabinet. Surely though what was worse was the message slagging off his boss Rachel Reeves. I know politicians are duplicitous but that's really disloyal. It was rumoured he will run for leader but I think he's 80 short
@TomK_Brit1993 I don't support & would never vote Labour but Starmer has one task & that is to deliver on his manifesto proposals & where proposals are multi parliament e.g halve VAWG in 10 years set clear targets for this parliament. Remember Maggie was v unpopular in first 2 years
@ToryMemo82 The thing that annoys me is she slags off Rishi but he gave her a second chance & took flak for it. He bought into Rwanda despite having been sceptical as C of E. She didn't deliver Rwanda despite her legal credentials. James & Rishi rescued it but too late for implementation
@ToryMemo82 I always liked her independence but you can't slag off the Met Chief in the press or say the London mayor is in hock to his Islamist mates & stay in positions of influence. Why stand as a Tory in last election & leave when a new leader brings in the policies you support.
@NadineDorries Restore leader hates Farage. Why if you vote for Restore do you think those voters would vote for Reform if there was no Restore candidate. I think many would vote Burnham to keep Reform out. Democracy can never be better served by restricting options
the other thing is father didn't want conflict but he did want politicians to act. I know you're not his biggest fan but Keir does seem more open to meet victims than his predecessors. Keir seems to me to be better now there's no McSweeney or Mandelson pushing him. Demob happy ?
So just to be clear. According to Reform putting out attack ads completely distorting Kemi Badenochโs measured response to Henry Nowakโs murder is fine. But meeting his grieving parents is not.
