从创作/写歌的时间来看，《双截棍》至少不晚于《Guerrilla Radio》，甚至可能略早一些（周杰伦1998年就在公司大量写歌，包括这首被退稿的歌）。不可能是周杰伦听了RATM的歌之后才抄的，因为时间对不上（RATM正式发行时，周的歌已经写完并被拒绝过了）。双截棍》：周杰伦在1998年左右就已经写好这首歌（当时他还在吴宗宪的阿尔发音乐公司当助理/创作人）。
最初是周杰伦写给张惠妹唱的，但被阿妹拒绝了。
后来周杰伦自己演唱，收录在2001年9月发行的专辑《范特西》中。
很多可靠来源（包括百度百科、吴宗宪相关访谈、周杰伦早期创作记录）都提到这个1998年的创作时间点，甚至有demo版本流传（demo里已经有了“快使用双截棍”的部分）。

RATM的《Guerrilla Radio》：录音于1998年（具体是9月左右）。
单曲正式发行于1999年10月（专辑《The Battle of Los Angeles》同期）
