@ldgo24@JuananGonzlez@ClasiHistorica If you think you just have to be "good" to be number 1 during these guys' peak for a week never mind 41 you have no idea how rankings work or how good these guys, including Murray, are.
@ldgo24@JuananGonzlez@ClasiHistorica He was world number during their peak. So he was competitive during their peak. That's the fucking point. Noone else made number 1 during that period (would even bet noone else made top 3 for more than a few weeks. He was top 4 for most of the period.
European finalists (wins)
European 19/22 (10/11)
SA 3/10 (1/5)
NA 3/6 (0/3)
Other 4/6 (1/3)
Seems European teams do ok. Reasonable to expect a European team to win this time too.
Why are ppl on here publishing they are not excited by the upcoming World Cup? Like, if you aren't bothered why are you broadcasting that?
I don't care what plays are on at the West End at the moment, but I don't feel the need the broadcast that particular nugget.
Die on this hill territory here but weve seen this before with Ashley Cole, the greatest footballer this country has produced, won everything, never injured, always selected in team of the tournament, the only World class player that showed up for us every comp consistently
I mean, why is that the criteria. And, let's face it you have literally no idea who the top 5 left backs of all time are. Or top 5 right backs. And then you start getting into positions that never existed 50 years ago and positions that do not exist today. Also, Ashley Cole. Lol
I’ll die on this hill.
Ashley Cole is the only truly world class talent England has ever produced.
Criteria: top 5 of all time in his position.
(Before you shout at me, I never saw Bobby Moore etc play. And the era was incomparably different)
..thing you could get to that. I don't spend all day watching the WC now, but more fans from more countries being invested in more football is surely a good thing, regardless of FIFA being a money grabbing corrupt corporate entity.
Seen lots of ppl not liking the format or increased number of teams, but why would you WANT it to fail? Surely you want it to be a success and there to be fantastic games and a few shocks. As a kid all I wanted was to watch football matches all day and the WC was the closest...
Small part of me wants this World Cup to completely flop so we can get back to 32 teams.
72 group games for 16 teams to be eliminated. If you win 1 group game out of 3, basically qualified. Shocking format.
Murder of Henry Nowak is NOT our “George Floyd”
A jury found Floyd was killed by a white police officer, actions celebrated by some on the Right
Nowak was killed by a Sikh civilian, condemned by everyone & deserves to rot in jail
Sarah Everard was our “Floyd”
Never forget her
Why does the FA Cup have qualifying rounds. And rounds before the top 2 divisions enter? Like, none of those clubs can reasonably be expected to win the cup, so why are the FA cramming in extra games?
Am I right in saying no other side can realistically win the World Cup than the 5 below?
France
Spain
Germany
Argentina
Portugal
Then you have this trio as outsiders.
England
Brazil
Netherlands
Begs the question, why are we cramming in random games? #worldcup
Europeans will be like “we have buildings older than America!!!”
Which is cute but meaningless, because when it comes to our actual nations as they exist today, the American constitution (1789) is older than **EVERY SINGLE EU NATION’S CONSTITUTION**
You have buildings older than our country? We have *people* older than your country. Hell, I’m older than a third of the EU.
Oh, your ancestors were insanely based and built the open-air museum you live in today? Congrats. Your constitution is like 5 minutes old and you are probably going to be communist or live under Sharia law in another 5 minutes unless you reawaken your ancestral based-ness and take your countries back from the woke scolds and would-be totalitarians.
Eastern Europe seems to be doing pretty well in that regard, since they just got rid of the totalitarians within my lifetime, are unlikely to revert to communism, and have zero tolerance for woke propaganda. But Western Europe… oof… you must wake up.
A reminder that defending is the easy part of the game, requiring a plan, discipline and tenacity. Attacking needs greater levels of skill, creativity and courage. Coaches than srnd teams out merely defend despite equal resources are cowards.
Silly of @AlexFerguson to criticise @Arsenal 's performance in @Budapest. Apparently he messaged the @PSG President with "You were the team that played football." @KaiHavertz 's brilliantly taken goal looked very much like football to me. The 10 (or more) minutes PSG spent playing keep ball in THEIR OWN HALF didn't look like the great attacking team they are supposed to be -- and Arsenal wouldn't let them be. FACT - Arsenal scored the only goal in Open Play. Yes, PSG won the match but not very convincingly. Arsenal's defence did their job; PSG's attackers did not.
@TG2872 80 they beat Hamburg (German champions with the reigning European FOTY in the side). Beat Ajax in the semis (3 times winners in 70s, Dutch were WC finalists twice in 70s). Hamburg beat RM.
Harder to qualify for, greater jeopardy from the start. Free draws.
