Watching the deteriorating situation in Syria with great concern. The Kurds are under threat from the new Syrian government that is aligned with Turkey.

It would be a disaster for America’s reputation and national security interests to abandon the Kurds, who were the chief ally in destroying the ISIS caliphate.

Therefore, I will be introducing legislation this week designed to impose crippling sanctions on any government or group engaged in hostilities against the Kurds. The Save the Kurds Act, I believe, will receive strong bipartisan support and must have teeth to make it effective.

I pray for President Trump and his team to make the right decisions to keep America safe at this dangerous time.

History tells us the right decision is to stand by those who stand with America and sacrifice for our common cause. History also tells us that evil cannot be accommodated — it has to be defeated.

I remember how sick to my stomach I felt when we abandoned our people in Benghazi. I’ll hold that against Hillary Clinton til my dying day.

Our people have to include those who would be a friend of America in the face of oppression: the protestors in Iran and the brave Kurds.

These are difficult decisions. But to abandon the Iranian people and the brave Kurds would be, in my view, Benghazi times a million.

I am confident that President Trump, who has done a marvelous job protecting America, will make the right call. God bless President Trump and all under his command.

Worrying developments in Syria. Violence against Kurds and other minorities must stop. Brave Kurds, who gave everything in the fight against terror, are now becoming victims of brutal abuse and humiliation. I expect our security services to do everything in their power to prevent the chaos surrounding ISIS detention camps from allowing terrorists to make their way to our country.

È indispensabile prevenire e contenere focolai di instabilità, sempre più attivi, ed un forte impegno della comunità internazionale affinché venga garantita la sicurezza ed una pacifica convivenza della popolazione curda in Siria.
È stato inoltre affrontato il tema della collaborazione tra il contingente italiano operante nella regione e le autorità militari e civili curdo-irachene. Il legame tra le nostre #ForzeArmate e i Peshmerga è storico e indissolubile, come l’amicizia che unisce l’Italia e il Kurdistan iracheno. In tale ambito ho auspicato un ulteriore rafforzamento della cooperazione, sia sul piano addestrativo sia su quello formativo in una prospettiva di lungo periodo orientata alla pace e alla stabilità regionale". Ayrıca Birleşmiş Milletler Güvenlik Konseyi’ne, insanlığa karşı işlenen suçların UCM’ye sevk edilmesi ve saldırı altındaki bölgelerde sivillerin korunması için gerekli tedbirlerin alınması yönünde bildirimde bulundu.
