Firstly, you're not Christian.
Secondly, yes, it is a consequence of your beliefs and culture.
Thirdly , Mormon politicians also include: Harry Reid, Frank Moss, Howard Cannon, Mitt Romney, Jeff Flake. For some weird reason, a lot of Mormon politicians who become successful don't even reflect the values of the Mormon community. Which I never understood.
Also, Mormons only became a reliable Republican voting Bloc in the '70s and '80s. Before that they were new deal Democrats.
//The distinction here is LDS actually believe their theology and oppose abortion and homosex (more or less) at the ballot box while Muslims don't.
Muslims do, too. They just vote based on their interests and it's more in their interests to vote Democrat.
// If Muslims were more sincere about their beliefs they wouldn't vote dem.
But they are sincere about their beliefs. And Dems promise to import more Muslims, thus strengthening their religious position and community.
Go to any Muslim country where they've actually taken over, and you'll see how seriously they do take their religion once they're in charge.
@foulweathermen@gran1te_mtn@Manhattva Sure. No arguments there.
My point is that the left doesn't care about what your particular theology of Jesus is. Christians do. But the left doesn't.
They just care about how you vote
We hate the way you turn into woke cry babies every time we call your religion false. Even though Mormons and Joseph Smith spent the last 150 years calling everyone else's religion, false and apostate and not part of Christianity.
Quit being a crybaby and just go about your business. The less you talk about it, the more we'll just go back to liking you, because Mormons are actually really likable cool people
Quit being woke. I swear, mormons are like the trans-women of Christianity. Yes. We don't accept that you're Christians, however, you choose to identify .But we don't bear any ill will against you personally and we generally like you. But all Mormons do is cry about how much everyone hates them. I guess because we're not inclusive enough.
We don't accept you as Christians. But we like you. But just stop crying about it and go about your business and be cool.
//No, anti-mormon feeling has always been a thing within the low church Protestant traditions.
It's been a thing within all Christian denominations, because Mormons aren't Christians. Mormons spent the first hundred years of their existence being explicitly anti protestant.
They've since tried to rewrite themselves as just another Christian denomination. Although this is in contradiction of all their history and Joseph Smith.
// It's as American as apple pie.
So is monogamy. Which is why Utah wasn't allowed to be a state until the Mormon church officially gave up polygamy.
So is monotheism. Which is why starting in the '50s, the Mormon church decided to downplay their polytheism and focus instead upon the atonement of Christ to try to blend in with Protestants.
@gran1te_mtn@foulweathermen@Manhattva Same for Muslims. Even more so.
And yet they're fawned over by the left.
Because they vote Democrat, are part of an identity politics victim class, and are brown.
@foulweathermen@gran1te_mtn@Manhattva The left doesn't care about your theological distinctives. They just care how you vote. They're happy to gush over "Christians" like Steven Colbert who are reliable liberals.
@foulweathermen@gran1te_mtn@Manhattva Nobody in the right hates you, crybaby. They just think your beliefs are false.
And they left hates you because you're white and vote conservative. Not because of your theology.
@gran1te_mtn@Manhattva Christians hate Mormonism. (Kind of like the way Joseph Smith hated protestantism ). But they don't hate Mormons themselves.
The left hates you in every possible way.
@BasedMikeLee Everyone likes Mormons until you start crying and lying about how you're Christians too.
You can't win this. You just need to drop it and move on.
Christian Churches. Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox.
You know. The ones Joseph Smith and all the Mormons leaders said they 100% weren't a part of at all until the later part of the 20th century when the Mormons started to pitch a new idea that were Christian too.
Why do you disagree with historic Mormon doctrine?
