✍🏼 Pitcher Summary on @PropFinderApp
Most people hunting home runs focus solely on the hitter. The problem? Home runs are created by a matchup.
This is why I love the pitcher summary page on Propfinder, it identifies which pitchers are currently allowing the most dangerous contact by combining recency weighted metrics like HR/9, Barrel%, HR/FB%, Hard Hit%, Fly Ball% and Meatball% across multiple windows. This helps uncover pitchers who are not just giving up homers, but are showing underlying signs that more should be coming.
The “edge” comes when you combine this data with pitch mix analysis from the hitter side.
If a pitcher ranks highly in HR Risk and throws a specific pitch, so let’s say a fastball, sinker, slider, etc, that a hitter is currently crushing based on:
-Barrel Rate
-ISO
-Pull Air %
-Launch Angle
-Exit Velocity
-Fly Ball %
-HR production in previous at bats
You’ve now created a direct correlation between a pitcher’s weakness and a hitter’s strength.
So instead of blindly betting star players, you’re identifying situations where the pitcher is allowing HR friendly contact against a hitter that excels against the pitches being thrown to support that particular play.
This is where from my experience some of the strongest home run opportunities are found.
Data will never predict every homer, but, consistently finding these correlations is how you put yourself in the best position to consistently identify value and allowing the “luck” of a homerun that particular day to take place.
