Playing and working in women’s football has been crazy recently with the amount of comments surrounding the ACL injuries of a lot of top tier players. There’s a few things to note that I think are going unnoticed:
7. Us lot in the game know this isn’t going to happen overnight. The financial implications of injuries for pro and amateur clubs/players is a major factor in a lot of career choices within the women’s football pyramid. So, the question is really… what can we do now?
6. strategy and planning around player management/load from all staff, CPD for players and staff, season/game formats within the women’s pyramids, training facilities, gym facilities and the one thing that I KNOW is not of high enough standards: recovery protocol/facilities.
It's never the high-level athletes who brag about waking up at the crack of dawn to work out.
They see that as a negative. Something that impairs their performance & recovery.
It's always the lower performing athletes who wear waking up at 5am as a badge of honor
Sleep is good
Currently creating a meta-analysis presentation diving into research of the effects and therefore management (to some degree 😩) of the menstrual cycle on female footballers, of all ages. Any nuggets of info that you’ve found with your own research would be greatly appreciated!
Research has found that sitting close to a high performer improved performance by 15%. Sitting close to a low performer decreased performance by 30%.

a big issue within both the pro and semi-pro female football world. I hope more ex and current pro’s open up about their experiences with nutrition and body image 😔
Alarming to hear @fara_williams47 open up about her own experiences around food and 'fat clubs' (as if that's even a term used by professionals) in women's football: “I hated dinner times. I used to have scrambled eggs for breakfast and I’d be starving.” https://t.co/29fVanwQSE
HS Athlete 1st❓to me: What do you think of pre-workout & protein💊?
Me: Are you eating 3-4 meals containing high-quality🍳protein? Consuming 80 oz.💧? Sleeping 7-9 hours?
Athlete: No, I don't have time.
Me: Okay, until you do that, here's the equivalent of what you're doing🤕
