HE WARNED US. NOW WE’RE LIVING IT.
Opinion | Rob Rances
Look at the headlines. Listen to the news. Check your wallet. Assess your children’s future.
Everything he warned about is unfolding right before our eyes. It’s our reality now.
THE ECONOMIC COLLAPSE HE SAID WOULD COME
Tatay warned: if power is abused, the economy will crumble. Tama siya. Today, the numbers are screaming:
1. PH foreign investments are back to COVID-lockdown levels—a sign investors no longer trust the country’s direction.
2. Growth forecasts slashed by World Bank and IIF at 4.7% by 2025, 4.8% by 2026, mainly weakened by corruption scandals and governance failures.
3. Borrowing costs are surging. Government interest payments up 13%, burning taxpayer money just to pay debt.
4. Debt ballooned to ₱17.56 trillion.
5. Food insecurity worsening. UN-FAO places the PH among the most food-insecure nations in Asia.
6. MSMEs dying. Thousands of small businesses closed dahil hindi makasabay sa taas ng presyo at bagsak na demand.
These are the economic alarms Tatay warned us about.
THE PEACE-AND-ORDER BREAKDOWN HE FORESAW
He said: “The peace and order situation will further deteriorate.”
Nangyayari na rin.
• Massive drug seized daw, pero no big syndicate bosses arrested
• Kidnappings and scams rising
• Police and soldiers demoralized sa walang direksyong pamumuno
• Ordinary Filipinos feeling less safe than five years ago
Hindi nagkamali si Tatay. We’re living the consequences of weak, unclear, and compromised leadership.
THE GEOPOLITICAL DISASTER HE SPOKE ABOUT
“A war that does not concern us will break out anytime.”
And today:
• West Philippine Sea tensions are at highs
• EDCA sites put PH closer sa conflicts ng iba
• Foreign policy na reactive, not strategic
THE DEMOCRATIC DECAY HE SACRIFICED EVERYTHING TO WARN US ABOUT
Ito ang mas malala:
• Billions of flood-control corruption, hanggang ngayon walang accountability sa masterminds
• PhilHealth’s ₱60B unconstitutional transfer
• Protests and critics suppressed tulad ng ginawa kay Kiko Barzaga
• Drug-use allegations from the President’s own sister pero still unanswered, still uninvestigated
And now, foreign institutions themselves are confirming, “the global economy is not the problem. The problem is Malacañang.”
(Based World Bank downgrade commentary)
Lahat ng ito, dating warning lang ni Tatay Digong. Ngayon katotohanan na.
TATAY SAW THE FIRE WHILE WE ONLY SAW SMOKE
Tatay Digong spoke when no one else dared. He warned us even when it cost him comfort, influence, and now his freedom.
dapat nating maintindihan that this was never about him saving the nation. It was about us learning to save it ourselves.
Hindi tayo pinalaki para maging bystanders. Hindi tayo tinuruan para matulog habang nilulunod ang bansa sa utang, sa kasinungalingan, at sa pang-aabuso.
Tatay already carried the burden once. Now the burden rests on us.
THE QUESTION NOW IS, “ARE WE READY TO FIGHT FOR OUR COUNTRY?”
Because if one man’s voice could shake the system… Imagine what millions of awakened Filipinos can do when we choose:
• Courage over fear
• Truth over propaganda
• Bayan over self
Tatay risked everything to warn us. Now we must carry the warning forward.
Now we must stand. Now we must fight.
This is no longer his battle. Ito ay laban na nating lahat.
And this time—
We multiply his voice.
We embody his resolve.
We become his courage.
For the country he defended.
For the future our children deserve.
For the Philippines we refuse to surrender.
Pilipinas, gising. The warning is over.
Action na!
